Our doors opened over a decade ago, becoming a sanctuary for those seeking items that truly represent the spirit and heritage of New Mexico. From the fiery zest of Green Chile, Ristras, and Wreaths to the aromatic bliss of Hatch's Red Chile Powder and Pinon Coffee, our selection is as diverse as it is authentic.
A trip to Taos is incomplete without stepping into the "Official Home of Real New Mexico Products." Our store, housed in a charming, slightly-haunted adobe building on the historic Taos Plaza, is a testament to our commitment to quality and authenticity. We firmly believe that the historic significance of our location demands respect, which is why every item in our store is sourced exclusively from the skilled artisans, craftspeople, and micro-businesses of New Mexico.
At Made in New Mexico, "Old-Time" customer service is not just a phrase—it's our way of life. As a cherished small business, we're able to offer you the personalized, friendly service that has become a rarity in today's world. Whether you're greeted with a warm welcome as you walk through our doors or you're reaching out to us by email, you'll experience the dedication and knowledge our team has about the products we sell.
We pride ourselves on offering a vast array of local delights, including NM Jams and Jellies, alongside an exquisite collection of Southwestern jewelry, clothing, decor, and much more.
If you like art, history, culture, amazing mountain and high-desert scenery, river rafting, skiing and other outdoor activities, consider Taos (rhymes with "house") for your next vacation...there's simply no place like it.
Artists have been moving here, creating here, and selling their works for over 100 years. Art lovers from all over the world come to Taos to buy from our 65+ art galleries. The amazingly varied and colorful sky and our sacred Taos Mountain continue to inspire thousands of artists, photographers and other visitors every year.
Before it was an art town, Taos was the place where American Indians, and later Europeans, came to trade food, furs and other goods. The Taos Pueblo Indians established their impressive pueblo here around 1,000 A.D., and it still stands as one of America's oldest buildings.. Europeans settled in the area in the late 1600s, and the uniquely American trapper, scout, and guide Kit Carson lived here in the 19th century and is buried here.
Taos remains a fascinating blend of three distinct cultures: Anglo, Spanish and Indian. Today, Taos County is home to about 30,000 year-round residents, while the town of Taos itself has a population of about 5,000.
